M.N.Govindan Nair was one of the famous personalities who rose to the central leadership of the Communist Party of India.  He captured public attention through his selfless services in the capacity of the Secretary of Communist Party in Kerala, Member of Parliament and as a minister of Kerala. His scheme for providing one-lakh homes for poor was was a model scheme implemented by him while he was the  Housing Minister in the 1972 Achutha Menon Ministry. an example of his administrative expertise.  He set apart his life for the communist party and excelled himself as an expert organizer and restless worker.  He was also a Gandhian in every inch and associated himself with the work connected with the uplift of oppressed class. He fought against the corruption and atrocities in society.  He died in 1984.
