Rahmathulla

Born  in  Areacode on 25th May 1960, as the second son  of Sri.Mukkath Abdu Rahiman and Smt. Poovancheri Khadeeja. Adv.Rahmathulla has risen in politics with a vision for a social change and economic development of the downtrodden.

Areacode, an unsung hamlet in Malabar is reckoned as the cradle of Indian Foot ball as it bedecked many a rustic guy with boots and jersey, to become luminaries in Indian Foot ball. Also known as an epicentre of education, Areacode groomed him in academics at Areacode Govt. LP School, Moorkanad School, Areacode Oriental High School and at Areacode Government High School. Having graduated in science stream at N.S.S. College Manjeri, he aspired for a graduation in Law. An alumnus of the Law Academy Law College , Thiruvananthapuram and Government Law College Kozhikode, Sri.Rahmathulla is a practicing lawyer at Manjeri Bar.

Sri.Rahmathulla is no political novice .The graph of his political career marked his beginning as a student activist in All India Student Federation (AISF), even from its very inception. Imbibing the legacy of the Communist family and attracted by the leftist ideologies, Sri.Rahmathulla  associated  himself with AISF actively and became the President of the AISF Kerala State Committee. Besides, he was elected as University Union Councillor from N.S.S College Manjeri twice and acted as Joint Secretary of the Calicut University Union. The vibrant youth with his zeal for social causes was soon hand picked  as the Vice President of All India Youth Federation (AIYF) State Committee , Kerala. He was the Secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) Malappuarm District Council. Presently he is in the State Executive Committee and National Council Member of CPI.. He is also the member of State Executive Committee of Indian Association of Lawyers (IAL). In appreciation to  his commitments towards the masses and in acknowledgement to his charitable activities he was elected as the Chairman of “Asray - A Trust of Friends” , a cultural and charitable organization that plays a vital role in charitable social work for the poor and needy in the District of Malappuram

Adv.M.Rahmathulla was in the electoral fray and contested from Ponnani Parliamentary Constituency in 1989 and 1996 as a nominee of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) . Also contested from Thirurangadi Assembly Constituency in 1994  as an LDF nominee.

Sri.Rahmathulla was appointed as the Chairman of the Kerala State Housing Board (KSHB) on 23.08.2006, at a time when the institution was reeling under rough weathers. During the Loksabha Elections in 2009 , Adv.Rahmathulla was again picked up as the LDF candidate for the Wayanad Parliament Constituency , for which he resigned the chairmanship on 20.03.2009. The Government of Kerala have again appointed him as the Chairman of KSHB on 25.07.2009. He carried the poise that came from years of political experience and carved out multipronged approaches to bring back the organization on its rails. Under his stewardship, the Kerala State Housing Board, the premier agency in the State housing sector, is exposed to new dimensions and vistas of umpteen opportunities.

The able orator and the seasoned politician in him manifested in the keynote address delivered by him in the Palestine Solidarity Conference in Beirut, during the 10th Party Congress of Lebanese Communist Party. He has attended International Conference of IADL (International Association of Democratic Lawyers) at Paris in 2006; as a delegate of IAL. He has also participated Official and Political Conferences, Seminars and Deliberations at France, Germany, Rome, Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar ,Oman and Baharin.

His small and contended family provides strength and support all throuh his strides towards his goal. His wife Smt.Zuhrabanu.K.P. is Research Assistant in the Directorate of Vocational Higher Secondary Education, Govt. of Kearla . His son Heny is an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME)  and daughter Hena is a Final Year B.Tech. student in Sarabhai Institute of Science & Technology, Thiruvananthapuram.

Adv.M.Rahmathulla is presently put up at Thiruvananthapuram but permanently resides at ‘Kinavu’, in  Manjeri, Malappuram District.
